Penn Central GP30s


Two of Penn Central's GP30s are seen at North Philadelphia Station in 1972.  Penn Central was created through a merger of the Pennsylvania Railroad, the New York Central Railroad and the New York, New Haven and Hartford Railroad in the late 1960s.

A total of 948 of the Bo-Bo type GP30 diesel electrics were built by EMD between July 1961 and November 1963, all except 2 used in the USA.
