Swiss Ae 6/6 electric locomotives
As featured on this poster for the Gotthardbahn from 1959. With a total production of 120 examples, this was one of the most iconic Swiss heavy freight locos. The Co-Co type had a 4,300 kW (5,770 hp) power output, a service weight of 120 tonnes and a top authorised speed of 125 km/h (78 mph). Most were produced during the 1950s. The first 25 were named after the Swiss cantons, and carried the canton's coat of arms on the side and chrome embellishments consisting of a single raised stripe on each side and three raised stripes on each end, and the Swiss coat of arms on the front, between the chrome stripes.
