Neussargues station, France
This is a rural station in the south of France serving a town with a population of about 1,000. It forms a junction station, but its importance has diminished since the 1980s. It was created in 1866 by the Compagnie du Grand Central, succeeded by the Compagnie du Paris-Orléans. The station was electrified on 10 May 1932 when the line from Sévérac-le-Château to Neussargues was electrified.
The closing of the line from Bort-les-Orgues to Neussargues in May 1994 and the suppression of night trains between Paris-Gare-de-Lyon and Aurillac/Béziers and Paris-Gare-de-Lyon - Millau in 2003 greatly reduced the role of the station. From the winter of 2006 the Corail train L’Aubrac between Paris-Gare-de-Lyon and Béziers was limited to a Corail train between Clermont-Ferrand and Béziers.
