Built in England in 1955, this was for visits from the Lake Rotorua shore to Mokoia Island.
The steel hull vessel had accommodation for 117 passengers, a 120 h.p. diesel engine and a cruise speed of approx. 10 knots.

Yes I used to ride the ngaroto daily in my childhood years Judd Davies was and still is our neighbour down Ohinemutu where he and his whanau settled He owned that boat to my memory and he was the most kindest caring person I met in those days How reminiscent it was to see the bgaroto once again
