A Whites Aviation view dated 27 August 1958. The view today is dominated by the Westpac Stadium; a lot of the land once occupied by what were deemed surplus sidings was sold off in the late 1980s.
Marine enthusiasts will also find the view of the wharves of interest. The significant 4-storied building in the centre foreground was actually the headquarters of the Social Security Dept.
This is another photo considered for but not used in the book Wellington Transport Memories.
