German ship in the administration of Papua New Guinea

 

A stamp issued by Papua New Guinea to mark the centennial of Germany's administration of the northern half of the country showing a ship apparently called Samoa (the western part of Samoa was also colonised by the Germans). All these colonial holdings ended with the beginning of WW1 and their seizure by Australians for the British - for more on that see the new book Voyage to Gallipoli.
