We're not into fiction but celebrate Eleanor Catton's win of the prestigious Man Booker Prize yesterday in London; at 28 she is the youngest winner of the literary prize and apparently with the longest book, running to 832 pages in the hardback edition.
Bookshops in NZ have yet to learn that they can't compete with the likes of Amazon etc. with overseas published books, but with a popular local title that ceases to be a problem and the spin-off from hugely boosted sales (bookshops will pocket a lot more than Eleanor Catton will from sales of her book) should encourage them to stock other local titles.
