North America's busiest freight railway with around 12 million tons a week

This triple track 108 mile (174 km) Union Pacific line between North Platte and Gibbon, Nebraska, is the busiest freight corridor in North America. It sees about 100 trains per day and has handled as many as 150. The second track was built in the 1900s, the third track was completed in 1999.  (UP photo)
