As can be seen, it closely resembled the Ford Anglia of the time. It was a two-door, four-seat 'estate car', using the same 1172 cc Ford sidevalve 36 bhp (27 kW) engine (which the Prefect also used) and other parts and the same interior trim. It was made 1955-1961. The Escort name was revived for a saloon car in 1968.
