progress of transport, NZ 1940


One of the stamps issued in 1940 to mark 100 years since the signing of the treaty of Waitangi.  From bullocks hauling wagons over dirt roads to a Ka hauled train on a railway (plus a ship and aircraft).  Today of course, Steven Joyce would insist that the railway be replaced with a truck and trailer juggernaut on one of his autobahns :-)
