the Gare of Ax-les-Thermes, France

the curious thing about this view is the two small car turntables in the middle of the track and the right-angled siding.

Nestled in the foothills of the Pyrénées at an altitude of 706 metres, the station of Ax-les-Thermes was opened in 1888 by the Midi company as a branch line from Toulouse. In 1927 the line was electrified by the Midi company and steamers were replaced by the Midi's boxy but quaint BB electric locomotives, operating on 1500 Volts DC.

On 22 July 1929 the section from Ax-les-Thermes to the Spanish border station of La-Tour-de-Carol was opened, and operated from the outset by the electrics.
