Bruce Robertson was a New Plymouth based engine driver until NZR was privatised in the early 1990s and the Wisconsin Central Railroad took a stake. He then took the opportunity to go and work for Wisconsin Central in their home territory. Both before and after that he took some nice pictures of trains, this one showing a DC/DX combination on the Stratford-Okahukura Line which, as mentioned earlier, Steven Joyce wants turned into a rail trail.
"Doesn't it provide the rail link between the Taranaki, Waikato and Auckland regions?" you ask.
"Yes, but my friends in the trucking lobby want it for themselves," he will say.
