soccer fever

Although it is widely played in North America and in A/NZ, soccer (football) is relegated to a minor interest sport by the media.  But in the rest of the world it is different and in some countries it is effectively the national religion, particularly in this year's FIFA World Cup host Brazil.  With tens of thousands of enthusiasts traveling to venues in different cities, no doubt Brazil's transport system's capacity, normally strained, will be getting its biggest ever test over the next month.
