the former Aalholm Automobile Museum, Denmark

The Aalholm Automobil Museum was in operation from 1964 through 2007 and was regarded as one of Europe's largest such collections, at one time displaying more than 200 motor cars spanning the 1890s through 1980s.

Located just west of Nysted on the Island of Lolland, it was set against the magnificent backdrop of one of Denmark's oldest medieval castles.  The museum was founded by auto enthusiast, Baron J.O. Raben-Levetzau, who used the castle's own 1911 Rolls-Royce (pic below) as a starting point for the collection.

The collection was sold by auction in 2012.  In the bottom left of postcard is an early 1920s Renault; the other on the right is the one-off "1905 Invisible Eight" which is a modern chassis with a flathead Ford V-8 engine, and a custom body. It sold for 280,000 Swedish Kronor ($US 43,887) when auctioned off on 12 August 2012.
