Taihape locomotive staff, NZ, 1924

Presumably excluding the kid in the lower left. Most are in their Sunday best and AB 702 in the background looks clean, too.  It demonstrates how important the North Island Main Trunk was in years gone by as well the labour-intensive nature of steam locomotive operations.  The total railway staff based in Taihape now can probably be counted on one's fingers.  For more, see our books.
