Southern Pacific steam passenger train nears LA


Probably circa 1910.  The loco looks like a 4-4-2 from the 1900s. The Sunset Route is the historic name for trains between New Orleans and Los Angeles and there is an Amtrak train today called the Sunset Limited between these cities.

Incidentally, in America you will hear "route" both pronounced as it is in French and in Britain; and as rhymes with "out".  We really can't tell which is the dominate pronunciation.
