international petrol (gasoline) price comparisons


We found this chart on the BP NZ site, two years old now, but it is the international relativity that is of interest. As can be seen, the main factor in the significant variations is the amount of tax that the government levies.  NZ is at the lower end of the scale, but still well above the USA and Mexico.  And for the record, in the USA at present the average national price at the pump is $US 3.69 a US gallon for regular, or a bit under $US 1 a litre.
