Nottingham, England, tram, late 1920s
Not only cigarette cards, cigar cards were also issued. This one shows a double deck tram built by English Electric of Preston in 1926, which had 2 x 40 h.p. Dick Kerr motors, Dick Kerr controllers and equipment, and Brush P.22 trucks. The grand Nottingham Council House in the background dates from 1929, which may also be the date of the card.
The original system in Nottingham, England, was 41.7 km long (standard gauge), but it closed in 1936. However, in 2004 a new 14 km light rail system was opened and contracts were signed last December for it to be expanded.
