Southern Pacific Alco RSD5


A nice short hood portrait shot; which tunnel is not stated.  These were Co-Co type with an Alco 244 1,600-hp prime mover, a total of 204 were produced between 1952 and 1956, of which 36 went to SP, 24 to the Texas and New Orleans Railroad subsidiary plus 3 to SSW (Cotton Belt).

Whaaaat!! You don't recognise the most photographed Tunnel in the World?
That is the Tehachapi Loop tunnel, just ahead of the Loco will be the West switch at Walong, the siding that is wrapped around the Loop.
