BVB tram, Switzerland, 1964


Officially the Chemin de fer Bex-Villars-Bretaye, this is a 17.09 km metre-gauge line climbing into the hills of which two sections are Abt type cog wheel totaling 9.65 km, on which the maximum gradient is 20%.  It seems this example was one of 5 automotrices dating from 1942, numbered 21-26; Bo-Bo type, 240 hp (176 kW) powered by 750 Volts from overhead; 19.3 tonnes tare; top speed 35 km/h (22 mph); 40 second class seats.
