steam in Vietnam

The main railway station of Saigon (a.k.a. Ho Chi Mihn City) - Ga is probably from French Gare

Most of the Vietnamese railway system was built by the French during the colonial era.  Today it stands at 2,169 km in metre gauge - the bulk of which is the single track line connecting Saigon and Hanoi - plus 253  km in dual metre and standard gauge, and 178 km in standard gauge - the later two variants are for connections with China.  According to the most recent info, Vietnam still has 34 operating steam locomotives, which are likely to all be metre gauge.
