English charabanc, 1913 - maybe less fun than it looks

A photo taken in 1913 with an early motorbus or charabanc which may have been intended as competition for the Forge Valley Railway which connected Pickering to Scarborough; in which case it wouldn't be difficult to choose the train - no protection on the charabanc against dusty roads when dry, or the rain when wet, plus solid rubber tyres and elementary suspension. We don't know the manufacturer.

Opened on 1 May 1882 and closed 68 years later on 3 June 1950, the railway line was 16¼ miles (26.2 km) in length and had six intermediate stations, all of which were built to a uniform design. It left the Malton to Whitby main line half a mile south of Pickering at Mill Lane Junction and joined the York to Scarborough main line at Seamer Junction, 2 miles (3.2 km) from the coast. Website
