Courtenay Place, Wellington, 1937
Two scenes taken sequentially by S.C. Smith in 1937 by turning around 150 degrees or so. The destination of Lambton Station on tram 111 indicates that this is before the new Wellington Railway Station opened in June 1937.
Apart from the cars of the period and the trams there are some early buses to be seen parked on the north side of Courtenay Place in the distance. This was essentially the layout of Courtenay Place until it was revamped in 1998.
These photos were considered for, but not used in the book Wellington Transport Memories
