Air New Zealand Boeing 777-300 lands in Wellington

Further to our post about Qantas Boeing 747 SP flights to Wellington in the 1980s, the largest new addition to Air New Zealand's fleet made a flying visit to the Capital on Wednesday 8 February 2011 when the airline gave the Wellingtonians a preview of their new 777-300.

"We admire Air New Zealand's innovative spirit and congratulate the airline team for the ground breaking advances in cabin design present on board this aircraft. Improvements in long haul passenger comfort will add to the attractiveness of New Zealand as a destination - effectively bringing us a little bit closer to the rest of the world" said Steven Fitzgerald, CEO of Wellington Airport.

The 777-300 heralds a new era in long haul flying for Air New Zealand passengers with the unique Kiwi designed lie-flat Economy Skycouch, brand new Premium Economy seating and enhanced Business Premier experience. The aircraft will service the Auckland-Los Angeles-London route from April.
