tram and trailers in Pyatigorsk, Russia, 1900s

This city's electric system was completed in September 1903, but for technical reasons regular operation didn't begin until 5 May 1904.

There were two tram lines built totaling 8.2 km in metre gauge (currently the Pyatigorsk Tramway - with 8 lines totaling nearly 48 km - is one of only two Russian tram systems in narrow gauge; the other is Kaliningrad.) There were 11 motorized cars and 7 trailers (former horse-drawn tramcars).
