you know when you're entering Poland

The road traffic bridge over the Neisse River in Görlitz - with a stone plaque saying "Bridge name Pope John Paul II".  Since 1945 the part of the town on the eastern side of the river has been called Zgorzelec, as Stalin made it part of Poland.  We're not sure if the bridge is known as such in the German part of the town.

Being Polish, Papieza Jana Pawla Drugi is honoured in Poland like Kaiser Wilhelm and Queen Victoria were in Germany and England respectively, and since the fall of communism, almost every town has had a street, avenue, park or, as here, a bridge named after him.
