the International Bridge of Tuy, Spain/Portugal

El Puente Internacional de Tuy, to give it its Spanish name, is situated between the localities of Tuy, in the province of Pontevedra, Spain, and Valença do Minho in Portugal, joining the two sides of the River Miño (Minho in Portuguese).

The bridge was not designed by Gustave Eiffel or one of his subordinates as is sometimes claimed, but by Pelayo Mancebo de Ágreda, and was officially opened on 25 March 1886, being one and a half years after it was brought into use.  It has rail on the top deck, road on the bottom and its 399 metres long. The postcard showing a diesel multiple unit crossing it is from the 1970s.
