Kilbirnie bus workshop

This scene shows two of the workshop bay pits at what was the Wellington City Transport depot at Kilbirnie, in 1980. On the left is an 1967 AEC Reliance, with a New Zealand Motor Body over the preventive maintenance pit, while next to the office is a 1978 Leyland Leopard with Hawke bodywork. The Leopard was one of 78 (fleet numbers 401-478) which operated until the end of the century. Examples of both are in preservation. (Wallace Trickett painting)
