A description of the yeti
In our post on the book Everest from the air last month, we mentioned that the book devotes a page to the subject of the yeti or abominable snowman of Tibet, basically to the effect no evidence exists to support it.
Coincidentally, one of our directors was reading a book in our library entitled The Long Walk by Slavomir Rawicz published in 1956, although the experiences date from 1941, about 6 Poles and 1 American who escaped imprisonment in one of Stalin's gulags by walking from Siberia through Mongolia, west China and Tibet to India, a long and arduous trek during which 2 of them died.
The chapter on Tibet includes the description posted above of two creatures they encountered. We make no comment except that the rest of the book is credible.
