100 km/h in an electric bullet, France, 1899


La Jamais Contente was a vehicle with two direct drive Postel-Vinay 25 kW motors, running at 200 V drawing 124 Amperes each for about 68 hp, and was equipped with Michelin tires. The shell was made of partinium -- an alloy of laminated aluminum, tungsten and magnesium. In it Belgian driver Camille Jenatzy reached the speed of 105.9 km/h (65.8 mph) on 29 April 1899 at Achères, Yvelines near Paris.
