'books are weapons in the war of ideas'

An American poster from 1942, with a clear reference to the Nazis' practice of public bonfires of books they didn't like.  Some of these books with pacifist themes may not have been too helpful to the Allies' cause either, though.

We mentioned in the post on it that such an event is portrayed in the current new movie The Book Thief.  Those who see it will recognize this building below, as it was filmed in Görlitz, one of the few German cities that survived WW2 relatively unscathed and as a result it has been a movie set quite often, see earlier posts.
