Wellington from Tinakori Hill, circa 1940
While on the subject of the book Wellington: a Capital century, here are a couple more pictures considered for, but not used in that book, both taken from Tinakori Hill.
The first shows the intersection of Tinakori Road and Molesworth Street (Park St in the foreground), which is now on a bridge over the foothills motorway, with some of the buildings that were demolished to make way for that motorway. The second shows a view looking to the northern Miramar Peninsular in the mid-distance, with a cargo ship leaving the wharves.
