the '4 Aces'

After WW2, American Export Line purchased four C3 - Windsor class attack transports built by Bethlehem Shipbuilding Corp. in Maryland, had them refitted as passenger-cargo liners and put them in service as the new "4 Aces" carrying the names of the original 4 Aces.  See earlier post.

The USS Shelby became ss Exeter, rebuilt in 1948.
