Aeromaritime to the west coast of Africa, 1937

Aeromaritime sounds like a combination of aviation and maritime and it was -- founded in 1935 by the shipping companies "Chargeurs Réunis", "Compagnie Générale de navigation à vapeur Cyprien Fabre" and the "Compagnie Marseillaise de navigation à vapeur Fraissinet" to develop air transport to Africa. The first flight to Pointe Noire in Congo was on 17 May 1937. The stopovers were: Dakar, Conakry, Abidjan, Lomé, Cotonou, Douala, Port Gentil and Pointe Noire. Because of the absence of airfields, and small scope of the operation, the Aeromaritime used Sikorsky S-43 seaplanes
