Axel Zwingenberger - music and trains

Axel Zwingenberger, born 7 May 1955 in Hamburg, Germany, is a blues and boogie-woogie pianist/composer, considered one of the finest boogie-woogie music masters in the world.

He is also a great railway photographer.  One of the books in our library is his Vom Zauber der Züge: eine Reise durch die Nacht in Bildern und Musik (The magic of trains: a trip through the night in pictures and music) published in 2000, which contained CDs as well as a substantial collection of great steam railway night photos - the sample below shows what makes his pictures special.  Next month he is a presenter at a conference hosted by the Center for Railroad Photography and Art in Illinois. website
