Århus main station then and now

A view of the Hovedbanegård or main railway station in Århus, Denmark, in the 1940s and the equivalent view today. (see also the earlier post on the city's tramways).

This Århus Central Station is the city's third, built in 1927 and commissioned in July 1929. The surrounding square was rebuilt with buildings in matching golden bricks in the 1930s. The station sees more than 7 million passengers a year (19,546 daily), the second largest in Denmark after Copenhagen's main station.
