the Tesla electric car

Another electric car for higher income people, translated from a Swedish website:

Tesla Motors has unveiled a very interesting electric car in the form of the Tesla Model S. It will reach the market in 2011, but Americans can pre-order now. The price starts at $49,900.

Tesla Model S takes nearly 50 mil on a full charge and can be charged using 110V, 220V and 440V outlets. It is equipped with many interesting features for gadget maniacs, including a 17" touch screen in the center console where you can control most settings on the car and plug in its iPod. It lacks keys and the owner uses instead an RFID tag when approaching the car so it automatically unlocks and opens the door; the same when you go from it to lock it.

     * 482 km on a full charge
     * 45 minute quick charge
     * 4 hours of "normal charge" for a full battery
     * 0-100 km/h in 5.6 seconds
     * Has room for five adults and two children
     * 17-inch touch screen in the center console with all the necessary information and multimedia
     * Constant connectivity via 3G gives you the best from the internet directly in the center console
     * 21-inch rims / wheels
     * Brembo brakes
