Norfolk & Western 4-8-2 class K2a with the 'Pocahontas'


Seen near Ripplemead, Virginia, in the 1940s. The Pocahontas began in 1926 and ran 676 miles (1,088 km) daily at night on the N&W mainline between Norfolk, Virginia, and Cincinnati, Ohio, with a through-connection to and from Chicago, Illinois. It ended when the Amtrak era began in 1971.
