Age uncertain, but looks 1890s. Did women really travel like this then? Apparently so.

No-no one traveled like that. The lady is resting on a diagram of that railroad’s route map. You’ll notice the “rivets” are all the stations they stopped at, from Chicago in the north to o St Louis in the south and Kansas City in the west.
