One of the original J class 2-6-0 type locomotives with a passenger train is photographed for a stereographic (3D) scene at Te Aute station in the Hawke's Bay in the late 19th century. A total of 33 of this class were built by 5 different builders between 1874 and 1884. None were preserved, but there are a few relics of them around.
