Today known as the Luzern–Stans–Engelberg-Bahn, this is a steep mountain cog wheel metre-gauge line which has been electrically operated since the beginning in 1898, originally in 3-phase AC, today in single phase 15 kV 16⅔ Hz which is standard in Switzerland, Austria and Germany (as well as in Sweden and Norway).
