Maybe the advertising agency in 1953 thought that so expressed it wouldn't seem as long as saying 38 hours 25 minutes? And are they including the literal time to get from Fifth Avenue in NYC to the airport and from (presumably) Tokyo airport to Mt Fuji?
It's not apparent what that aircraft is although in practice it was probably a Stratocruiser, see earlier post.

Only foreigners call it Fujiyama; the Japanese always refer to it as Fuji-san.
