survey reveals extreme right has most support among French working class

Interesting in view of the NZ election result last Saturday when many traditional Labour voters stayed home is this latest survey of voter support for the three main Presidential contenders in France next year.  Working class - classe ouvrière - support is strongest for Front National candidate Marine Le Pen (see earlier post) at 43%, versus 22% for UMP incumbent Nicolas Sarkozy and only 20% for Parti Socialiste front runner Francois Hollande. "La France pour les francais", effectively "immigrants from the other side of the Mediterranean are taking over", is a major explanation given for the result.
