Michael McCormack's paintings of Wellington
We first encountered Irishman Michael McCormack in early 2001, not long after he had immigrated, when he was painting a scene in Ascot Street where we had a two-storey house at the time (see earlier post). That painting isn't in this book, but it has about 70 other paintings from the last 10 years, being a mix of typical tourist pictures and some less obvious character scenes that locals wouldn't give much if any thought to, but which a foreigner would.
He has since set up a gallery and published an annual calendar, this is his first (self-published) book. website
