We called the early Polynesians 'the Vikings of the Pacific' in a post earlier in the year, so here is an artwork of an actual Viking longship and a museum reconstruction. The sea distances they managed to traverse in the first millennium were impressive. Recommended museums to visit are the Viking Ship Museum in Roskilde, Denmark, and in Oslo, Norway.
