over the Passage du Gois to Noirmoutier, France

"Bastard! Are you going to let me pass?"
"Yeah and the fleet, so why do it?"

Another of France's offshore islands in the Atlantic close to the mainland is Noirmoutier. Le Passage de Gois is a paved (for one lane) natural embankment, 4.5 km long, leading to the island from Beauvoir-sur-Mer which is flooded twice a day by the high tide so vehicle drivers need to be off it by then if they don't want to be bathed by rust-causing saltwater underneath.
