The Byron Bay lighthouse from 1901 is on the tip of the Cape Byron, NSW (on a fairly high escapement above the beach) and marks the most easterly point on the Australian mainland. The sea is the Pacific Ocean, it is well above the Tasman Sea latitude. (Judith Tepper)
