SS Imperator / RMS Berengaria

Launched in Hamburg, Germany in 1912, this ship as the Imperator made her maiden voyage from Cuxhaven to New York on 20 June 1913. In August 1914 she was berthed in Hamburg harbour for the duration of WW1. On 5 May 1919 the ship was seized by US navy as a troop transport who in February 1920 handed her over to the Shipping Controller, London and a year later sold to the Cunard Line who renamed her  Berengaria. In 1934 the Cunard and White Star lines merged. On 3 March 1938 the ship caught fire in New York harbour and on 7 November that year was sold for scrapping. More info
