the Chairman of NZ Post responds

We followed up the earlier post about NZ Post attitudes with an e-mail to the Minister of State Owned Enterprises, pointing out among other things, that unless this delivery business changes its way of thinking and behaving, its economic asset value to the taxpayer will be much reduced in the very near future.

As has also been pointed out before, it is in the nature of middle managers and petty bureaucrats generally to "pass the buck", fob complainants off and file things in the "too hard basket" - if you want something done you need to go to the top.

The response by NZ Post Chairman, Michael Cullen (yes, the former Minister of Finance) is little cause for excitement, but it at least indicates that something might be done about this organisation's prevailing attitude that customers are pests instead of people to be served as efficiently as possible.
