railway adventures in Peru

This recent book has the look and feel of a giant travel brochure, but it contains plenty of information - and nice photos - of interest to the railway enthusiast also.  Lots of seemingly impossible trajectories in this mountainous country were overcome by the use of zig zags, tunnels and viaducts; the Central Railway of Peru in particular can rightly be called an engineering triumph. Regular services today are provided by American-built diesels as you would expect, but there steam hauled specials and the book includes quite a few sepia toned historic steam pics. The photos combined with the facts about the lines traversed make you feel like making plans to go there and experience it all.  The book has 136 colour pages in A4 portrait format, softcovered and has dual Spanish and English text.
